Please add to your comment section: Evelyn is a miracle worker! I had no idea how to find my German mother. Within a day Evelyn had a lead and soon was able to track her down. Although my mother had passed away, I now have a sister! Evelyn's hard work has given me a priceless gift -- the gift of family. I'll never be able to repay this beautiful gift. Evelyn has truly been a blessing to our family. We have been searching for my mothers birth family in Germany and didn’t know where to start. I am so grateful for Evelyn and what she has done for our family. We have always wanted to know about my fathers family in Germany after finding out he was adopted as a baby. Until getting connected to Evelyn, we had no information. She was able to locate direct relatives, get us into contact, and we finally have answers, as well as a whole new family! I cannot thank Evelyn enough! I live in USA and for years have been trying to find anything out about my Mom's biological Mother in Germany, and wondering if she has siblings, but I couldn't find much of anything.I even paid to have DNA done and try to find others that way, again no luck. After one week of contacting Evelyn she not only gave me married name of my biological Grandmother " Oma, but also let me know she was still alive and well ! And then we found out my Mom has a brother and sisters!! We have a trip planned to unite in Germany in October. So exciting, overwhelming, and emotional. THANK YOU EVELYN!

Where to start? For years I have searched for my father's birth parents and never had any luck. Within weeks, Ms. Evelyn had them both found along with half siblings for my dad. She is truly amazing! This morning Evelyn sent me a message that she found my sister in Germany (GI dad) ....and laid the groundwork for the communication. As of an hour ago, I have communicated with my sister who I have been trying to find for 20 years. I contacted Evelyn and she found her within a month. I cannot thank you enough, Evelyn.

I cannot thank you enough. I am in contact with my sister Rita after you found her. She has no other family. My sister died in November so to find Rita is utterly amazing. I hope she wants to meet. We always knew about her but she never knew she had siblings. I will let you know if we meet.

Evelyn achieved the impossible by connecting us to our lost Auntie/ Sister Rita who was adopted in 1949. With just a first name and some approximate dates, Evelyn found Rita. Over Christmas, my Mother said hello to her Sister, over the phone, some 70 years later. Truly amazing and we are so appreciative of Evelyn’s work. A true hero, thanks again Evelyn.

I am trying hard to find a word to describe Evelyn and mostly all I can think of is Guardian Angel. She is amazing at how quickly she found my long lost siblings. She goes the extra mile and even contacts them for you and provides you additional information. For those of us that are lost, she makes us found with incredible speed. Hello, My Name is Mimi. I am so happy to write about my great fortune to meet Evelyn Schumacher-Bertholdt.
I have had a lifelong curiosity regarding my birthparents. As a young child I was told by my adoptive parents and grandmother that I had been born to a young lady and a military serviceman who did two tours in Germany in 1954ish and 1956. On his first tour of duty, my bio mother had a boy with him. On the second tour she became pregnant with me. I was adopted by a U.S. Army serviceman and his wife. I have 3 older brothers and no sisters. I grew up with them and had a wonderful life. We always had fun living the military life. I only inquired about the adoption as a curious child, having my grandmother retell the story many times. As I became an adult I started searching for birth mother but had no computer or genealogical websites to help. so, fast track to 2019 I took a DNA test and became a member of Ancestry.com and My Heritage in hopes of finally trying to get some connections to my bio parents.
I happened upon a Facebook group called, " Find My GI Father". I posted on the site and had two administrators
help me. One found my bio Father and one helped me about my bio Mother but suggested I contact Evelyn. I emailed her and within a FEW HOURS she let me know she had found my bio mother who passed away in 2012---but that I had a brother in Germany!! I am so excited. She actually got in touch with him and he emailed me within a couple of hours! I was so jazzed to hear from him. But that's not all... he surprised me and told me I also had 2 more brothers and a sister! Wow, I am numb. So amazed at Evelyn's expertise, attention to detail, and genuine compassion for my cause. I can never thank her enough. I walked around on cloud 22 all day, today. Just sat and thought of how blessed I was to have someone go the extra mile for me. Evelyn, you are the BEST!!!! -
Evelyn has made my Christmas wish come true. I have been looking for my mother for 16 years. I had no last name or place of residence to search . Evelyn still managed to find my mother with very little information. I can not thank her enough. So very thankful for this wonderful woman!

Ms. Evelyn is a miracle worker. In less than a day she was able to locate the German mother of a child adopted by a US service man and his wife in 1963, with only a name and where she lived at that time. Although no longer living, the adoptee now has siblings! Amazing work by this wonderful service.

I lack the proper words to praise Evelyn for what she has done for me and my family.
My heritage is Jewish. My father was born in Lithuania in 1929 and he was 11 when the Nazis occupied Lithuania. Before the war, a few individuals of German descent worked for my grandfather. During the war, these wonderful people risked their lives in attempt to save my father and his sister. Over the years, my father was able to locate one of these German families, but not the others.
About 20 years ago, my father wrote an autobiographical book that was published in multiple languages. For years, I tried to find more details about the people described in his book, but to no avail. As I was doing research for a new edition of the book, I decided to try again, and I found Evelyn. Not only was she able to find the descendants of these people, but she was able to contact them on my behalf and even drove to visit them in person, during the pandemic to get some photos of their family members. After almost 80 years, we have finally come full circle and it’s all due to Evelyn’s effort and dedication.
I found a lot of satisfaction in being able to tell these descendants about the heroism and humanity of their parents and grandparents. None of this would have been possible without the help of this wonderful human being, Evelyn. -
Evelyn is a Godsend! I live in the US and had a very difficult search for my birth mother with missing birth info and Evelyn successfully found my birth mother. In 1966, my birth mother emigrated to the US to work as a nanny in her 20’s. Shortly thereafter, she became pregnant and gave the baby up for adoption to a social services agency in the US. As with many states in the US, the adoption record was sealed and the birth mother information restricted only to the social services agency and their search partners. My adoption record had limited information – only the birth mother’s name and birth date, secondary schooling with no birth city. The US agency then performed an initial and inadequate search in the US and could not find her. After finding information on Find Your Family in Germany on an US adoption website, I asked the agency to contact her for a search in Germany, believing the birth mother had returned to Germany. Evelyn agreed to help and spoke with the agency from Germany. Without the birth city, searching for birth parents in Germany is very difficult, however Evelyn was very persistent and diligent- she was able to piece together information from distant relatives on various websites such as My Heritage.com and Ancenstry.com and then located my mother’s birth certificate and birth city in Germany. After finding there was no German marriage or death record associated with the birth record, she determined that my mother was still in the US! Not long after, she found her obituary in the US. Sadly, I will never meet her, however I found out I had a ½ sister. Working with the agency on my behalf, Evelyn was able to make warm contact with her. I am now communicating with my ½ sister. Thank you, Evelyn, for your compassion and for taking the time to bring closure to a difficult US search.

A long lost dream came true for me today after 55 years. I have never met my biological German mother for so many different reasons. I tried so many times and always came to “ no match found” I was so so frustrated, but than somehow I came across this site. I contacted Eveyln and neat less to say within 48 hrs she found my mother and sister. It’s just unreal to me right now. So many happy emotions. I’m in touch now with my sister and things are rolling. Where to begin? i have been looking for my dads mom and sister for years. It would just lead me to dead ends. so one day I joined a Facebook page I love Germany. I then proceeded to ask how do I go about getting my dads adoption papers and birth certificate. I had so many people help me with all suggestions. I then seen a comment from Evelyn who then said please send me a message. so I did, in a matter of a month this sweet angel of mine Evelyn was able to get birth certificate and all the names of my dads sisters their husbands and my grandmother. Where do I begin? I have been searching for my German birth father for close to 50 years now. My German mother married a US serviceman, and as a result, I was raised mostly in Europe, but also partly in the US. My mother never gave me any information, and has since passed away. I had no details at all on my birth father up until one year ago. At that time, I was given a first name and where my parents met, from a still living German family member. I, again searched without any success at all for any information on my birth father. After stumbling upon an old photograph album with pictures of my mother and her best friend at around the time I was conceived, I tried to find the friend. That too was unsuccessful. Enter Evelyn Schumacher-Bertholdt. I stumbled upon her website while searching for someone online who might be able to help. Oh boy, did she ever! I emailed Evelyn, explaining my story, and gave her the very limited information which I had. Within less than a few hours, she located my mother's friend, made contact with her, and found out my birth father's last name. A short time later, she actually found my birth father. I was gobsmacked! Unfortunalely, he had since passed away. However, she discovered that he had other children. Evelyn went above and beyond what I could have ever hoped for, and contacted some of them on my behalf. In short, within 24 hours, Evelyn was able to do what I hadn't been able to my entire life. She put me in contact with my siblings, and we even spoke on the phone. We have future plans to meet one another, and I cannot wait. Evelyn is nothing short of a miracle worker, and I call her an angel on earth. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done for me. I am eternally greatful.

I was 11 months old when I was adopted from Germany to Denmark. My adoptive parents have always told me that I was adopted. So since I was about 5 years old, the thoughts about my origin and roots have been with me every day.
Today I am in my early 50's. After years of searching I got lucky and by chance found the homepage of Evelyn.
With the help from Evelyn, I managed (November last year) to get in touch with my half-brother and half-sister on my mothers side.
This is really fantastic and to me still a bit unreal. I have visited them both and now have a lot of information, so I am now finally able to add
important pieces to my family puzzle. I am just som happy.

Prior to immigrating to the USA, My father was adopted in Germany. He new knew nothing of his natural father, up until his death in the 1980's. I was 21yrs old when he passed & I have been wondering about his natural father (my grandfather) for over 3 decades. I had a DNA test done summer 2019, came up with probable match of descendants, but not sure. Further internet research for 6 months led to no conclusive findings. Finally, I found Evelyn's website, thought I would send in a message, as I had done with many other internet listings. She responded to my message, asked me some questions, and to my surprise, she was able to put this all together on December 12, 2019. It has been 3 days since I've received her results, and I still can't believe it !! I am now 54 yrs old and finally I am relieved to know information on my natural grandfather. Also, I'm now in contact with blood relatives/descendants that I would never have been able to find on my own. Evelyn is very analytical, determined, will not give up, and knows where to look to find information on relatives. I highly recommend her. She did a fantastic job.

Ich wurde vor 51 Jahren als Baby adoptiert und habe mich seit meiner Kindheit gefragt, wer ich eigentlich bin und woher ich stamme. Als junge Erwachsene habe ich mich auf die Suche gemacht, aber die Informationen die ich erhielt, haben mich nicht sehr weit gebracht. Traurig und enttäuscht gab ich auf und habe es akzeptiert dass es so ist.
Vor gut einer Woche bin ich rein zufällig auf den Hefter mit den damaligen Papieren gestossen und dachte, man könnte ja mal rein spasshalber im Internet schauen ob es irgendwo Hilfe gibt. Durch puren Zufall stoss ich auf Evelyns Website und entschloss mich, eine E-Mail zu schicken. Zu meinem Erstaunen hat sie noch am selben Tag geantwortet und binnen 4 Tagen habe ich nicht nur vieles über meine leibliche Familie erfahren, Evelyn hat sogar Kontakt mit meiner Halbschwester aufgenommen. Am frühen Montag Nachmittag bekam ich Evelyns Anruf, wenige Stunden später habe ich meine Schwester angeschrieben. Gestern haben wir zum ersten Mal telefoniert, und ich könnte nicht glücklicher sein. All dies ist ein überwältigendes Gefühl, und ein gigantischer Schritt in der Suche nach meinen Wurzeln. Die Reise hat endlich begonnen und ich bin unglaublich gespannt, welche Entdeckungen mich noch erwarten.

On August 15 2019 at appox. 930 am telling a coworker I've spent the last 15 years looking for biological family in Germany with nothing but dead after dead end....at this point he picked up his phone and Google search and found evelyn's Web site...we looked at it and the bottom of the page was her phone number , so we called the number and evelyn answered the phone asked me a few questions about me , and my adoption, and birth mom info.......with in 9 hours evelyn changed my whole life....
I'm 55 yrs old and she found my birth mom and my 2 sisters I'd been looking for....and lots more family members beyond that... Evelyn there are no words I can express what you do for us that have been adopted by American family's and then helping us find our German families. I've been talking with my sisters every day sense Evelyn helped me find them.... my wife and I planning a trip to Germany to see my sisters and my mom in the next few months......Evelyn you are the biggest blessing ever...Thank you with my whole heart.... -
So I tried to find my mothers biological mother, And after trying for a few months I got to a point where I didn't know where to get more information. Then one Sunday morning I thought I would go and do another search, and there was one page said find your German family and I was like ok why not give it a try can't hurt. so I sent Evelyn a email and we exchanged info birth certificate etc, and with in a day or two she had gotten back to me and said she had spoken with my mothers family.We can't thank her enough for the time and effort she takes to help. A friend sent me the link to this website, and my desire was to simply get copies of my adoption paperwork and whatever else could be found. In a matter of several weeks, I had most of my documentation in hand, AND Evelyn found my birth mother!!! She contacted her and we are excited to speak to each other in the next couple of days. I was on a search for my mom birth mother in Germany.. I gave evelyn little info a little over a month ago! My mom will be meeting her for the first time in 61 years on Saturday. I still don’t understand why or how she do it but thank you so much for everything

My father had a child in Germany during WWII and he never met him. I found some information about him and sent it to Evelyn and she found my family in 6 weeks! My brother had passed away but I am getting to know my Sister in law, Niece and Nephew, and their families. Evelyn has been an angel to us and our family is forever grateful.

I had been trying to find my older brother who my mother had to give for adoption for many years without any luck.
One day by accident I found Evelyns website, and emailed her. Without giving her much information, since I didn't have much. Evelyn found my brother and connected us in the matter of weeks.
I can never thank Evelyn enough for what she's done for me and my family. Finally it feels like I have my whole family, like I've always wanted.
Our relationship with my brother is already so strong and we will just get closer and closer over the years I'm sure. I'm very happy to be able to grow my relationship with my brother, all thanks to Evelyn!

I have been looking for my biological mother for nearly 10 yeats without any luck. Then I found Evelyn on the Internet, wrote to her, telling my story and behold, she found my mother in 2 (two!) days only. A fantastic result in the shortest time ever, just amazing.
But unfortunatly I came too late, my biological mother passed away two years earlier.

I will be forever grateful to Evelyn for finding my half sister. I had been searching for my birth father when a friend suggested I contact Evelyn. My Dad was adopted from Germany in 1960. My grandparents were in the US Army and stationed in Frankfurt at the time. It has been a life long dream for me to one day find his family. Starting this task however quickly proved to be more difficult than I thought, especially with a language barrier and me being in the US. Thankfully I stumbled across this website by chance and decided to send an email with my story. To my surprise within minutes Evelyn responded to my email eager to help me find my birth grandmother and German family. Finding my Grandma was proving to be difficult, but Evelyn didn’t stop and continued on always knowing what step to take next! This woman is truly a search angel and does all of this work from the goodness of her own heart just to help people and I am beyond grateful to her! Within just a couple months she uncovered more than I ever could have imagined. I never would have imagined that my Dad is actually one of 6 children! I have so many cousins and so much family in Germany, even some here in the US too. Getting to know my new family for the first time has been so surreal and amazing. Im still weeping tears of joy, I cannot even begin to express the happiness I feel. I wish my Dad was still alive to witness this all unfold. January 1, 2019 God sent a beautiful angel to me and her name was Evelyn Schumacher-Bertholdt
My name is Betina . I was born in Dettelbach, Germany May 5th ,1969. I was adopted by a US military family stationed in Kitzigen at the time and later moved to United States . I spent my entire life wandering about my biological family . It wasn't until the passing of my adopted mother in 2014 that I had enough information to try to even search. After cleaning out her home, I found a couple pieces of my adoption paperwork that happened to have my birth name Ulla Adam and my birth mothers name Inge on them. I tried at that time with the help of friends to do some online searches but found it very difficult trying to search for information in another country and in another language. We got nowhere and I ended up just putting it aside believing unless I traveled to Germany myself I would likely never find anyone. This year I turn 50. As a New Years resolution I decided to give it one last try. I went online and happened to stumble onto Evelyn's website. It was simply" find your family in Germany " how in the world did I not find her site before now?? I decided to take a leap of faith and just tell her my story. On January 1st to my surprise she responded and I had no idea at that point that she was about to change my life forever . After obtaining my original birth certificate, she went right to work . Less than 21 days she had not only found my birth mother but everyone in my family !! It was unbelievable and amazing that she could do that. Inge sadly had passed away last year but it turned out I had two older brothers (had none before) who did not know about me and a father who was alive and who I was his only child. All living in Germany. She was great with contacting them and making initial introductions which was especially helpful with my father who did not speak English. It turned out that they were in shock but all very happy and wanting to be apart of my life and my daughters. We have been sharing loving conversations, pictures and tears with one another ever since. I am planning to go there to Germany where I was born and to celebrate my 50th birthday in May with all of them and to see Evelyn. I want to give her the biggest hug which seems like absolutely nothing to give to a woman who just gave me everything! -
I contacted mrs Evelyn From the US after coming across her page on the web. My Father had been put up for adoption when he was a baby, and had been looking his biological mother and had no leads. Mrs Evelyn was able to reunite a family after 62 yrs. She has been a great blessing to our family. There arnt enough words to put in this comment im leaving, because She is that wonderful. Evelyn is amazing!!! I wrote her not expecting much in return. She immediately responded and got to work, even though most were off for Christmas. Evelyn is truly a remarkable person. I contacted her in an attempt to locate my biological parents and any living relatives. Fortunately I have my German birth certificate and other documents so that helped in our quest. Evelyn has kept in constant contact with me updating along the way. She has located family and clarified several questions. She is a total professional who as far as I am concerned has skills that are unmatched in helping people find relatives. She has done more for me in a week than I had accomplished in a year. If i could see her I would give her the best hug ever for giving me great joy.

Evelyn you are a blessing for those of use who are looking for our birth families. I thought after all this time, hope was lost and I would never know how I came to be. My adopted parents were wonderful, but knowing about my birth family was important to me. You located my birth mother, my siblings and now I know my father's name as well. I speak to them often and this all unfolded in less than 2 months. I am so thankful for your help and please know you are truly giving blessings and joy to so many.

I want to sincerely thank Evelyn for connecting me to my family after many years of not being able to obtain any information whatsoever. I was a child who was given up for adoption in the early 60s and I had virtually nothing to help me with any search, especially because I had not been given the true story of the circumstances of my adoption.
