Where to begin? i have been looking for my dads mom and sister for years. It would just lead me to dead ends. so one day I joined a Facebook page I love Germany. I then proceeded to ask how do I go about getting my dads adoption papers and birth certificate. I had so many people help me with all suggestions. I then seen a comment from Evelyn who then said please send me a message. so I did, in a matter of a month this sweet angel of mine Evelyn was able to get birth certificate and all the names of my dads sisters their husbands and my grandmother. I am now in the process of my aunt in Germany messaging me. I want to give a HUGE thank you and I recommend anybody looking for their family in Germany to contact her.

Evelyn is so wonderful. I cannot put in words how happy I am about all the hard work that Evelyn did to find my family. This all so new and an evolving story so I will add more later. Again my sincere thanks to Evelyn for doing such a good job.

Where do I begin? I have been searching for my German birth father for close to 50 years now. My German mother married a US serviceman, and as a result, I was raised mostly in Europe, but also partly in the US. My mother never gave me any information, and has since passed away. I had no details at all on my birth father up until one year ago. At that time, I was given a first name and where my parents met, from a still living German family member. I, again searched without any success at all for any information on my birth father. After stumbling upon an old photograph album with pictures of my mother and her best friend at around the time I was conceived, I tried to find the friend. That too was unsuccessful. Enter Evelyn Schumacher-Bertholdt. I stumbled upon her website while searching for someone online who might be able to help. Oh boy, did she ever! I emailed Evelyn, explaining my story, and gave her the very limited information which I had. Within less than a few hours, she located my mother's friend, made contact with her, and found out my birth father's last name. A short time later, she actually found my birth father. I was gobsmacked! Unfortunalely, he had since passed away. However, she discovered that he had other children. Evelyn went above and beyond what I could have ever hoped for, and contacted some of them on my behalf. In short, within 24 hours, Evelyn was able to do what I hadn't been able to my entire life. She put me in contact with my siblings, and we even spoke on the phone. We have future plans to meet one another, and I cannot wait. Evelyn is nothing short of a miracle worker, and I call her an angel on earth. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done for me. I am eternally greatful.

I was 11 months old when I was adopted from Germany to Denmark. My adoptive parents have always told me that I was adopted. So since I was about 5 years old, the thoughts about my origin and roots have been with me every day.
Today I am in my early 50's. After years of searching I got lucky and by chance found the homepage of Evelyn.
With the help from Evelyn, I managed (November last year) to get in touch with my half-brother and half-sister on my mothers side.
This is really fantastic and to me still a bit unreal. I have visited them both and now have a lot of information, so I am now finally able to add
important pieces to my family puzzle. I am just som happy.
This really means a lot to me. Thank you a thousand times dear Evelyn and Happy New Year.

Prior to immigrating to the USA, My father was adopted in Germany. He new knew nothing of his natural father, up until his death in the 1980's. I was 21yrs old when he passed & I have been wondering about his natural father (my grandfather) for over 3 decades. I had a DNA test done summer 2019, came up with probable match of descendants, but not sure. Further internet research for 6 months led to no conclusive findings. Finally, I found Evelyn's website, thought I would send in a message, as I had done with many other internet listings. She responded to my message, asked me some questions, and to my surprise, she was able to put this all together on December 12, 2019. It has been 3 days since I've received her results, and I still can't believe it !! I am now 54 yrs old and finally I am relieved to know information on my natural grandfather. Also, I'm now in contact with blood relatives/descendants that I would never have been able to find on my own. Evelyn is very analytical, determined, will not give up, and knows where to look to find information on relatives. I highly recommend her. She did a fantastic job.

A friend sent me the link to this website, and my desire was to simply get copies of my adoption paperwork and whatever else could be found. In a matter of several weeks, I had most of my documentation in hand, AND Evelyn found my birth mother!!! She contacted her and we are excited to speak to each other in the next couple of days. Evelyn is absolutely amazing, and I cannot thank her enough. If you are in search of your family in Germany, contact her at once. She will be able to help you.

My father had a child in Germany during WWII and he never met him. I found some information about him and sent it to Evelyn and she found my family in 6 weeks! My brother had passed away but I am getting to know my Sister in law, Niece and Nephew, and their families. Evelyn has been an angel to us and our family is forever grateful.

  • Jess (Freitag, 17. Mai 2019 13:12)

I had been trying to find my older brother who my mother had to give for adoption for many years without any luck.
One day by accident I found Evelyns website, and emailed her. Without giving her much information, since I didn't have much. Evelyn found my brother and connected us in the matter of weeks.
I can never thank Evelyn enough for what she's done for me and my family. Finally it feels like I have my whole family, like I've always wanted.
Our relationship with my brother is already so strong and we will just get closer and closer over the years I'm sure. I'm very happy to be able to grow my relationship with my brother, all thanks to Evelyn!
Thank you Evelyn for everything you do. I will never be able to repay her for her work, she's incredible, if you need help finding family in Germany, reach out to her!

  • Jacob Jakobowicz (Mittwoch, 27. März 2019 16:05)

I have been looking for my biological mother for nearly 10 yeats without any luck. Then I found Evelyn on the Internet, wrote to her, telling my story and behold, she found my mother in 2 (two!) days only. A fantastic result in the shortest time ever, just amazing.
But unfortunatly I came too late, my biological mother passed away two years earlier.
You need to find a list relative or friend? I warmly recommand you to turn to Evelyn

  • Sylvia (Sonntag, 03. März 2019 04:20)

I will be forever grateful to Evelyn for finding my half sister. I had been searching for my birth father when a friend suggested I contact Evelyn. He unfortunately was already deceased but I did gain a sister who is 8 years younger than me. We have connected and have visited each other several times already. It was "love" at first sight. We are both only children and now have small families so this means so much to both of us. Our families have been integrated and we are all overjoyed to have each other. We will make many more memories together over the years. Thank you thank you thank you again Evelyn

My Dad was adopted from Germany in 1960. My grandparents were in the US Army and stationed in Frankfurt at the time. It has been a life long dream for me to one day find his family. Starting this task however quickly proved to be more difficult than I thought, especially with a language barrier and me being in the US. Thankfully I stumbled across this website by chance and decided to send an email with my story. To my surprise within minutes Evelyn responded to my email eager to help me find my birth grandmother and German family. Finding my Grandma was proving to be difficult, but Evelyn didn’t stop and continued on always knowing what step to take next! This woman is truly a search angel and does all of this work from the goodness of her own heart just to help people and I am beyond grateful to her! Within just a couple months she uncovered more than I ever could have imagined. I never would have imagined that my Dad is actually one of 6 children! I have so many cousins and so much family in Germany, even some here in the US too. Getting to know my new family for the first time has been so surreal and amazing. Im still weeping tears of joy, I cannot even begin to express the happiness I feel. I wish my Dad was still alive to witness this all unfold. I hope to one day soon be able to go to Germany and see them all. Danke Shoen Evelyn for all the work that you do!

  • Betina Smith (Freitag, 08. Februar 2019 05:23)

January 1, 2019 God sent a beautiful angel to me and her name was Evelyn Schumacher-Bertholdt

My name is Betina . I was born in Dettelbach, Germany May 5th ,1969. I was adopted by a US military family stationed in Kitzigen at the time and later moved to United States . I spent my entire life wandering about my biological family . It wasn't until the passing of my adopted mother in 2014 that I had enough information to try to even search. After cleaning out her home, I found a couple pieces of my adoption paperwork that happened to have my birth name Ulla Adam and my birth mothers name Inge on them. I tried at that time with the help of friends to do some online searches but found it very difficult trying to search for information in another country and in another language. We got nowhere and I ended up just putting it aside believing unless I traveled to Germany myself I would likely never find anyone. This year I turn 50. As a New Years resolution I decided to give it one last try. I went online and happened to stumble onto Evelyn's website. It was simply" find your family in Germany " how in the world did I not find her site before now?? I decided to take a leap of faith and just tell her my story. On January 1st to my surprise she responded and I had no idea at that point that she was about to change my life forever . After obtaining my original birth certificate, she went right to work . Less than 21 days she had not only found my birth mother but everyone in my family !! It was unbelievable and amazing that she could do that. Inge sadly had passed away last year but it turned out I had two older brothers (had none before) who did not know about me and a father who was alive and who I was his only child. All living in Germany. She was great with contacting them and making initial introductions which was especially helpful with my father who did not speak English. It turned out that they were in shock but all very happy and wanting to be apart of my life and my daughters. We have been sharing loving conversations, pictures and tears with one another ever since. I am planning to go there to Germany where I was born and to celebrate my 50th birthday in May with all of them and to see Evelyn. I want to give her the biggest hug which seems like absolutely nothing to give to a woman who just gave me everything!

  • Nickie Brock (Freitag, 01. Februar 2019 19:11)

I contacted mrs Evelyn From the US after coming across her page on the web. My Father had been put up for adoption when he was a baby, and had been looking his biological mother and had no leads. Mrs Evelyn was able to reunite a family after 62 yrs. She has been a great blessing to our family. There arnt enough words to put in this comment im leaving, because She is that wonderful. Thank you again for everything you have done.

  • Ashlie Souders (Donnerstag, 10. Januar 2019 06:32)

Evelyn is amazing!!! I wrote her not expecting much in return. She immediately responded and got to work, even though most were off for Christmas. She not only found my Father’s birth mother in less than a week, but all his siblings. She has a true gift and passion for bringing families together. Thank you, Evelyn! You truly have a special gift!

  • Ford (Freitag, 07. Dezember 2018 17:10)

Evelyn you are awesome. Within weeks of contacting you I've communicated with my birth family here in the US and in Germany. I'm so appreciative of your tact and compassion in dealing with the delicate introductions to my birth family. You are so generous with your time and selfless dedication to helping reconnect families. You are an inspiration and I am forever grateful for your help.

  • Scott (Samstag, 01. Dezember 2018 15:42)

I don’t know where to begin...Evelyn was absolutely amazing how quickly she found my birth mother ! And now she is helping with our correspondence due to a language barrier . Evelyn is truely an amazing person !!!

  • Robert (Mittwoch, 14. November 2018 14:44)

Evelyn is truly a remarkable person. I contacted her in an attempt to locate my biological parents and any living relatives. Fortunately I have my German birth certificate and other documents so that helped in our quest. Evelyn has kept in constant contact with me updating along the way. She has located family and clarified several questions. She is a total professional who as far as I am concerned has skills that are unmatched in helping people find relatives. She has done more for me in a week than I had accomplished in a year. If i could see her I would give her the best hug ever for giving me great joy.

  • Monika (Freitag, 26. Oktober 2018 15:23)

I have met an angel and her name is Evelyn. Amazing is the only word to describe how she has transformed my life and now my birth family lives. Her generous passion and skills to define so many lives is truly a gift from God!! With eternal gratitude Teresa Ann /Monika!!!!!!

  • Sandra (Sonntag, 21. Oktober 2018 23:07)

Evelyn you are a blessing for those of use who are looking for our birth families. I thought after all this time, hope was lost and I would never know how I came to be. My adopted parents were wonderful, but knowing about my birth family was important to me. You located my birth mother, my siblings and now I know my father's name as well. I speak to them often and this all unfolded in less than 2 months. I am so thankful for your help and please know you are truly giving blessings and joy to so many.

  • Anne (Mittwoch, 10. Oktober 2018 11:13)

Evelyn does amazing work and she does it fast, I got an email on a Tuesday and by Friday she had found my mother. I had been looking for years and just kept hitting dead ends, I’m so grateful to be able to thank you to this wonderful woman for making this happen for me and my mom

  • Claudia (Sonntag, 30. September 2018 17:14)

I want to sincerely thank Evelyn for connecting me to my family after many years of not being able to obtain any information whatsoever. I was a child who was given up for adoption in the early 60s and I had virtually nothing to help me with any search, especially because I had not been given the true story of the circumstances of my adoption. Evelyn has helped fill in most of the blanks by enabling me to find my brothers in Germany. Lifelong thanks to Evelyn!

  • Jennifer Janousek and Krystal Toon (Freitag, 21. September 2018 00:33)

I'm so excited for all the new information I have found out about my family! My mother was given up for adoption in Stuttgart in 1950. She never had much information. Evelyn found me and my mother on an adoption board and contacted us. We now have found my mother's sibling and information about her mother and father. Thank you so much Evelyn. You are great at what you do!

  • Henry Hill (Dienstag, 18. September 2018 17:51)

Evelyn is an angel on earth!!! I found out I was adopted in 1984 (19 years old) and for the past 34 years I have tried to find my biological family, always coming up with no results. I was looking at our local news station and they had a clip about a brother and sister that were separated from each other as children in Germany, their story moved me so much that I reached out to them via Facebook. They told me about Evelyn and the GREAT work she does. So I thought I will give her a try.

I contacted Evelyn on 4 September 2018 and within days she informed me that my biological mother was in the United States but unfortunately had passed away, but I also found out on my maternal side I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. Evelyn did not stop there, she contacted one of my sisters to let her know who I was and that I wanted to contact her. Evelyn was also able to obtain my original birth certificate. She also sent me pictures of my mother. First time in my life that I was able to see what she looked like.

Evelyn is a true professional and she loves what she does. Like I said, Evenly is an Angel on earth.

Evelyn......I thank you for everything you have done for me. You have filled an empty void that's been in my heart since 1984. GOD Bless you!

  • Lauren (Dienstag, 18. September 2018 01:12)

Evelyn does amazing work. My mother knew she was adopted from Germany and wanted to find her birth family. After much unsuccessful searching and many dead ends, I accidentally stumbled upon this page. I contacted Evelyn and provided her with little information. She responded within 24 hours with information on our relatives! And within 72 hours we were communicating with them. We are truly grateful. It is always nerve-racking to contact a complete stranger to ask for help and give them personal information but Evelyn proves that there is good out there. She is very genuine and great to work with. I now know about my grandmother and relatives, I never even knew I had. This has been an amazing journey that wouldn't have been possible without Evelyn's help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

  • Francis Hubbard (Dienstag, 18. September 2018 00:02)

Evelyn found my husband's family in about a week, though his mother has passed, his uncle and cousins were very excited, as his Uncle had thought of him daily. Will be leaving for Germany Oct. 1, to meet his German family, almost a year to the day.
Thank you Evelyn for everything you did.

  • Bernd (Donnerstag, 06. September 2018 16:11)

Evelyn found my family which was lost to me for almost 64 years, the process was very methodical as it had to be taking one step after another and it was not the easiest search but even so after only nine weeks or so of searching suddenly my natural family was found and my 90 year old mother was found alive and well.
I had been adopted by a British military family and moved to England as a baby. Two days ago I had no family except my children and grandchildren. Today I now have a mother and two brothers and three sisters and ten nieces and nephews and some of them have children too.
To say I am happy is a huge understatement and not only that imagine how happy my mother is now that she has all of her children again.

Evelyn has nothing less than my undying thanks and admiration she has given me the greatest gifted and she has given that from the goodness of her heart.

  • Deric (Montag, 27. August 2018 21:23)

Evelyn is a true master at her craft of finding people. I reached out to her on the website, not really expecting an answer after looking in many places for information on my birth mother. I was adopted in Germany and then moved to the states so language was a barrier. I gave her limited information and several days later she had found my birth mother as if it was something very simple. She also went out of her way to help me communicate with her and explain some circumstances of the adoption. I am truly thankful to Evelyn, she is a very kind and caring person who could help you. My only regret is that I did not find her sooner.

  • Megan (Dienstag, 14. August 2018 19:22)

My Oma has been looking for her little brother and sister that she left in Germany when she moved to America . Evelyn helped me the same night I messaged her after we been searching for years over 40 or 50 years of lost contact and I came across evelyn’s page and emailed her and it only took her the same day to look for my Oma brother and she found him!!! She went out of her way and is AWESOME! I highly recommend her!! She helped out very much

  • Arnie Dunsmore (Donnerstag, 02. August 2018 18:22)

Thank you Evelyn.... I was adopted to a Canadian military family and knew nothing about my biological family. I am by nature not a trusting person and was sceptical as to whether Evelyn could help me. I did all the DNA searches before with little success. Evelyn was amazing, very professional and helpful. She found my sisters, one in the US and another that only lives 200 km from me in Canada in a mater of days. I wish I had done this years ago.

  • Allison Leet (Montag, 09. Juli 2018 15:35)

Evelyn helped us in 4 days after we spent years searching for our half-sibling. We are so grateful for finding Evelyn's site online and for her being able to locate our brother. Thank you so much for your expertise and prompt communications to all parties involved. Allison and family

  • Carla (Dienstag, 03. Juli 2018 16:31)

My father was born in Germany in 1954, along with his brother born 1953. Both were adopted in 1956 by an American couple and brought to the US. We have always been curious but never took any further action to find their ancestry. My uncle passed away this year and my father was diagnosed with critical health conditions. With these 2 events happening back to back I decided it was time. My father also needed his original birth certificate to complete some paperwork here in the US. I found Evelyns name browsing through google trying to find resources where I could locate not only family history but obtaining his original birth documentation. I contacted Evelyn and she was immediately responsive and willing to help. Evelyn has been an angel sent and has not only been able to obtain and send my fathers original birth certificate he needed to provide to his doctors here, but she also was able to locate my fathers sister who I am now in contact with via email! Unfortunately his mother has passed away quite some time ago but my aunt has told me she has several other brothers and sisters and a large family and has been open to connecting with us! This whole process took about 1-2 months. My father and I are amazed. My father lost his brother in April of this year which left myself as his only known/living biological relative. He has been filled with joy to know there is more to him, his life and his story now! We are so forever grateful for you, Evelyn. I only wish my uncle were here to witness this!

  • Heidi (Donnerstag, 28. Juni 2018 23:04)

Evelyn has been a true gem. I was adopted by US parents in 1965. Within a matter of days Evelyn started providing me information and had located my mother. I have been able to find answers to many of my questions and receive some pictures of my birth mother, grandmother and family members. Not only did she find my family, she communicated regularly and advised me of next steps along the way. I am very grateful of all that Evelyn did for me. She is an expert in finding families and I would highly recommend her to anyone in my situation.

  • Ashley (Dienstag, 05. Juni 2018 20:14)

My mother was born in 1954 in Germany and adopted in 1956 by a loving Canadian Air Force family. We had always been curious about her beginning. My mother and I decided to take a chance and contact Evelyn. For a month and a half she has been in contact over e-mail providing us with information from archives and other sources. It has been the most exciting journey and I'm so happy that Evelyn has been apart of this with us. Evelyn does this research out of the kindness of her heart and we can't thank her enough. On May 17th I had a flight booked to make a second visit to Germany. While in London on May 16th Evelyn contacted me to say she had found family on my grandfathers side. May 16th was also the day 55 years ago that my grandfather passed away. So the timing of this felt so special. Evelyn had contacted the family and arranged for us to meet the next day. She was calling them, updating them on time of arrival and arranging the times for us to meet. She made all of this happen for us. It was such a special visit that I will never forget. Thank you Evelyn for all that you do! My mother has been e-mailing her German family ever since.

Evelyn you are nothing short of an angel! I was born in Mainz Germany in 1961 and adopted by an amazing American couple that loved and raised me in the US. My whole life I knew I was adopted and always wanted to know about the brother that was born before me and adopted to an American family before I was born. In 1 short week, Evelyn was able to bring so many unanswered questions to me. She not only located my birth mother, but she connected me with a half-sister I didn't even know I had! All my life I wondered about my older brother and she helped me complete that part of my life as well. I feel at peace now because of her dedication to helping people like me. I will forever be grateful to Evelyn and her ability to connect the many unanswered questions that adopted children have about their past. Evelyn, I will forever be grateful for you!

  • Anna Jensen (Freitag, 06. April 2018 02:36)

Thank you Thank you Thank you Evelyn. I was born in Germany and lived in the US for many years now live in Australia. My family have moved around quite a bit through the years but I never forgot the hole that was left in my mothers heart from not knowing where to locate the rest of her family. Back in the early days things were kept at bay and not spoken about. My mother and I decided to delve into those unspoken memories and tried desperately to find lost family. Finding only a few here and there but one particular side of the family left us blind. I had been looking for a few years but only recently landed on your page. Since then you have provided so much information about our family and the stories of their past it has really enriched our lives. Not only finding my mothers missing fathers information we hope to one day soon locate her half brother. This means so much to us especially now. As we say ones' memory is a precious and helping it bring back these long lost family members helps bridge the gap. We look forward to more information and thank you again for the hard work you have already given to us.

  • Roger Cox (Mittwoch, 21. März 2018 04:39)

Evelyn quickly found answers to questions I've had for nearly 60 years - in less than one week, and has put me in touch with an uncle that I didn't even know I had! I can't thank her enough.

I was born in Wiesbaden and adopted by Americans in the military, who were quite open with me about my background, but I never had access to any more information about my birth or my birth mother than her name as listed on my adoption papers.
I am so excited to find out more about where I and she come from!

Hello, I am so grateful to Evelyn. I have been searching for my Brother for years. I contacted her and within a few days she had found my Brother. I live in the United States and he lives in Germany. We had lost contact over 40 years ago. I did not have much information about my brother, only a birthdate and 2 old photos. Evelyn found him within 2 days. I am so happy!

My heart goes out to Evelyn. She found my Birth Mother, 91, who is ill with dementia, and a brother, Wolfgang and sister, Renate in several weeks.
I was always curious but thought it would be impossible. I always had a longing to find her.
I was born and adopted in Munchen by a military family 58 years ago and brought to the USA where I grew up.
Evelyn did so much research to find my family, communicate with them to learn our backgrounds and history.
I don't speak German and they don't speak English. So Evelyn was able to translate our initial conversations.
Now Wolfgang, Renate, and I are communicating via Google translator.
We have exchanged pictures. The resemblance between my brother and I is amazing.
I am going to Munchen in 3 weeks to meet my "new" family.
    Evelyn is a miracle worker!!!
I am forever grateful to Evelyn.

    I cannot thank Evelyn enough.
I came to her with hardly any information. Only a first name, possible date of birth, and possible birth place. We had only whispers and small bits of unreliable information.

With this, Evelyn went to work for us. She kept in contact with me along the way, never asking for anything in return. After a couple months of communications, emails, writing letters to registries, etc, one morning I awoke to the happy news - our family had been found. A birth name. A birth mother. A family to contact and answers to our questions.

Evelyn is a true angel. I have so much appreciation for her time, her efforts, her caring heart. I will be in her debt always. She is a true blessing.

I reached out to Evelyn to find my mother who I haven’t seen in 20 years and she was able to find her and reach out to her for me. I truly believe she is an angel and has changed my life in the most beautiful way. Today is day 2 of speaking to my mother on the phone and the first steps of having a relationship with her. I cannot say thank you enough. Evelyn is a wonderful person and I am so happy I reached out to her!!!

Evelyn is truly amazing! In s matter of 24 hours she had actually located my family in Germany. I have wanted to find out any information I could about my family or even if there was family members in Germany.
I was born in 1954 and adopted by an American family. I really only found out about 30 years ago that I was adopted but really did not know where to begin.
Evelyn is a very proactive Geneolgist that turns every possible stone over till she gets the information she is looking for.
In 48 hours I have spoken with one of my 3 sisters and one of my 2 brothers. I only speak English and my brothers and sisters only speak German with some broken English. Evelyn reached out to my sister and spoke with her and got all the information then called me and passed on the information.
This has changed my whole life in a way that I could never have imagined. I feel truly blessed to have this Angel Evelyn step into my life and open a whole new book for me. I am forever grateful to her. I want to mention that Evelyn has done all of this with no pay.
    God bless you Evelyn!

As a successful family genealogist in the United States, I am very impressed with Evelyn! In an attempt to help an adopted coworker find her biological siblings in Germany, Evelyn was contacted and the results were almost immediate! I knew German records were not my area of expertise, but they certainly were Evelyn's. She is fantastic and highly recommended!

My name is Jacqueline Brumley & along with my mother Lillian Brumley (Schneider) we have for a life time wondered about my grandmother and my mother’s mother, Caroline Strohmeier.
My grandmother came to Australia with her brother Anton when she was just 10 years of age.
    Anton was 12.
She came with a man called Ferdinand Theiler.
    He was her adopted father.
She left behind her mother, Karoline (Schwankl) Strohmeier and younger sister Elizabeth.
My mother & I never knew why she left her Mother and sister and why she was even adopted.

Evelyn has tirelessly uncovered this mystery and made the story to me and my family clear and concise.
I now have not only found a life time of answers to my questions but also discovered a distant cousin.
This cousin is the great Granddaughter to the lost sister Elizabeth Stromheier.

My mother and I are indebted to Evelyn and we could not recommend her highly enough to anyone wanting to search their family history.
She is a miracle finder for families.
    She is the BEST.
